Hariette de Swaan Arons is a New York-based interior designer with a previous career in marketing and communications.

During her first career working for multiple digital agencies in both New York and Amsterdam, Hariette was focused on helping clients develop marketing strategies during the pioneering internet days as well as managing and growing client relationships.

Although she enjoyed her career in the agency world, she knew all along that she had not found her true passion; not until she rolled circumstantially into multiple interior design projects of her own. Doing these projects made her decide to switch careers and enroll in the Interior Design AAS Program at Parsons School of Design. This professional course of study combined with her recent projects allowed for a rapid immersion in the field of interior design.

In the process Hariette discovered significant overlaps between her two careers, “What always motivated me in my previous career was to tap into the true consumer need. I sense that same motivation with interior design. Both fields are about listening and tapping into a client’s deeper needs. "

"To me, design and functionality are inseparable. Something that I came to appreciate when I spent months traveling with a 1974 Airstream trailer. Thanks to his meticulous design, Airstream founder Wally Byam perfected the combination of gorgeous and innovative design with well thought-out functionality. This is something I will aim for in my career ahead.”

Hariette was born and raised in The Netherlands and has lived in New York for more than 20 years. She lives with her husband and three children in downtown Manhattan.
